12/27 Weigh In Week 17

Loss for the week: +1.4 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:176.8 lbs.
Total loss to date: 31.6 lbs.

So I took the week off due to the holidays and just enjoyed my time with family (and the food)! I'm not quite sure if I'll get back to it in full force this week since we're still celebrating with family and then there's New Years. I know for sure in a few weeks I'll see the numbers dropping again and I'm content with that. Until then, I'll enjoy my freedom with the diet. I'm still working out in full force! (1 - 1 1/2 hrs. every day)

12/20 Weigh In Week 16

Loss for the week: .6 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:175.4 lbs.
Total loss to date: 33 lbs.

I really do think I've hit a bit of a plateau. I was stuck in the 175/176 lb. range last time around for about 4 weeks and since my loss has slowed down tremendously in these last weeks I think that is where I am at again. I know that the amount of calories I'm eating(factoring in breastfeeding as well) and the workouts I've been doing that I should be losing more. Since I'm able to look back at my last weigh loss and see the patterns and how my body did, I think I have a good idea of what it's capable of. I'm sure in the weeks to come(and once the holidays are done) that things should pick back up again. Last time around when the plateau was finally done, I lost 6 lbs. in one week and then picked back up again at the 2-3 lb. loss a week. So since I'm looking ahead to the big picture and I know this will take time, I'm not too worried about the week to week. Since it's Christmastime, I'm just enjoying myself and taking it a little easy in the eating department. I figure it might even help to give my body some more calories anyway so it's not getting so use to the 1850 per day I've been stuck at the last 16 weeks. Sorry these last few weigh ins have been kinda uneventful but it's real. There isn't always going to be big numbers but the important part is to keep on pressing through it and you'll see the fruits of your labor. I did my spinning class again this morning and my butt was able to handle it much better this time around. It was a great class! I love all my workouts at the Y! They have awesome instructors there! You really should check out your local Y and think about getting a membership. They even offer scholarships and such to those that can't afford it. Okay, my plug is over :)
Have a very Merry Christmas!!!

Fears

With this last week's weigh in, I'm starting to fear I might be approaching a weight loss plateau. This happened the last time around at this same weight. I'm wondering if my body says okay, we've lost over 30 lbs. we need to stay at this weight for awhile! I weighed myself today and usually the day after my weigh in, I've lost more. Today was not the case, same exact number as yesterday. This brought those fears right up to the surface. My plateau last time around lasted a whole 4 weeks. That was such a hard time to keep pressing on despite the lack of results. Once I made it through it though the number kept falling hard. I'm fully prepared to push through another plateau if that is the case. It's just not gonna be very fun :P

12/13 Weigh In Week 15

Loss for the week: 1.6 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:176.0 lbs.
Total loss to date: 32.4 lbs.

Well I was pretty disappointed by today's weigh in. I was really hoping for a lot more since I've upped my workouts. I'm getting in about 1 1/2 hrs. every day. I'm really not sure what went wrong. I guess my body just needs a little time to adjust to the new workouts? Every muscle in my body has been aching this week so I know I've been pushing myself to the limits. I've tried out a whole bunch of classes at the Y and I love them all. My butt however is not a fan of the spinning class, LOL. I guess it needs to get to use that hard seat. Hopefully next week I'll see some bigger numbers. Either way, a loss is still a loss.

12/6 Weigh In Week 14

Loss for the week: 2.4 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:177.6 lbs.
Total loss to date: 30.8 lbs.

I was happy to see some loss this week. I was a little worried because of my overnight shopping trip with family. I did lots of eating out and just enjoyed myself. I had a Cinnabon (yum!) that I only get once a year on this shopping trip. We ate at The Olive Garden, Subway, Culver's, and I discovered my love for peppermint bark! This is my first week of working out at the Y. I'm going to try to do some classes every morning. I'm excited because I may end up getting closer to an hour and a half workout in every day. We'll see how that affects next weeks weigh in. Sorry this post was so late! I totally forgot in my busy day and was reminded by a friend :)
I'm only about 3 lbs. away from what I weighed before baby #4. And I'm 4 lbs. away from being halfway to my goal of a 68 lb. loss. Who knows what is in store for next week!

11/29 Weight In Week 13

Loss for the week: +.6 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:180 lbs.
Total loss to date: 28.4 lbs.

Unlucky 13! Well it was Thanksgiving week so I'm not too surprised. I was actually doing pretty good through Thanksgiving day keeping with calories and extra workouts but the day after Thanksgiving I felt terrible. My tummy bug was back again so I didn't get a workout in. The next days after that I also didn't get a workout in so the rest of the week was kinda shot. I was dreading today's weigh in but I guess it could have been a lot worse. I'm not quite sure how next week's weigh in will go. This Sat. I'll be going on an overnight shopping trip with my mom, grandma & aunts. I'll be eating out for all my meals and I'm going to let myself enjoy my time with family. So we'll see... it's a long process so a few weeks of staying still aren't terrible. They probably help my body to adjust to the new weight anyway. LOL, okay yeah I'm just trying to make myself feel better now!

Expanding Wardrobe

Today I decided to try on a bunch of pairs of jeans that I had gotten from a friend. I had done this over a month ago and I could barely button them. Today I could button them all. I was very excited to put these in my closest and take out the last few pairs of maternity jeans I had in there. I'm sure in another month they will be fitting awesome(I still have a bit of the lovely muffin top thing going on at the moment, ugh). Yay!

11/22 Weigh In Week 12

Loss for the week: 3.8 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:179.4 lbs.
Total loss to date: 29 lbs.

It feels great to be in the 170's! This past week I didn't get much exercise in since the stomach bug was floating around our house. It was an odd one where I'd feel crappy one day and then fine the next and then back to sick two days later. I've loving this almost 4 lb per week rate I've been going at! Not sure if it'll keep up any longer but that's okay. This week is Thanksgiving week and hopefully I can still maintain a decent loss. I think I will save a few hundred calories each day to make up for eating my Thanksgiving meal. I'll also try to fit in maybe an extra 20 min. of exercise each day. I'm all for letting myself enjoy the day with family and eat yummy foods but I'll just make sure with a few adjustments that I still lose some weight. Until next week...

11/15 Weigh In Week 11

Loss for the week: 3.8 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:183.2 lbs.
Total loss to date: 25.2 lbs.

It's been a good week! I'm glad to be back into dropping the lbs. It certainly makes those food sacrifices much easier when I know that it's making a difference. Maybe I'll be out of the 180's next week! I was also able to work out at the Y a lot taking classes, running on the treadmill, and elliptical. It was great to switch it up a bit. I'm pretty sure I got the job. I had to do watch a few online tutorials on OSHA, harassment, and child abuse. They'll just be checking my references, running a background check and then I'll hear back about when I can go in for training, etc.

It's Fun to Stay at the YMCA

So I applied for a job at the Y teaching some preschool classes. I had my interview last week and it went well. They gave me a week pass so that I could observe some of the classes I might teach to get a better idea. I've been taking full advantage of my guest membership. I LOVE THE Y!!! I really hope I get the job because I think I'll quickly fall into a daily routine of dropping the kids off at KidCare and working out. I was able to take one of the workout classes and I really enjoyed it. I have another meeting on Monday so hopefully I'll know more then about the job.

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas...

{this is not my family but i was drawn to this one since it had the H and our last name starts with an H and i love the many black & white photos, it's printed on cardstock}

Okay, maybe not quite yet. It's actually been a nice warm fall week! Looking ahead to the holiday season that is quickly approaching, it's time to start thinking of Christmas cards. Having 4 kids, sending out picture Christmas cards is a great way to provide friends and family members with a cute updated picture of our ever growing kids. This year, I'll be looking to Shutterfly.com to find some cute designs. It's going to be a hard choice deciding which one to go with. I've ordered pictures from them before and also get the calendars made every year for the grandparents. They have great choices and I've been very happy with the quality. If you're looking for some great options this holiday season, check out shutterfly.com. Now the only tricky part is going to be figuring out how to get all 4 kids to look great in one picture! And I'm off to keep losing that weight so I can look good for the picture!
{or this folded greeting card is cute too!}

{or this cute photo card, seriously, it's hard to pick just one}

11/8 Weight In Week 10

Loss for the week: .2 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:187.0 lbs.
Total loss to date: 21.4 lbs.

So I haven't fully jumped back into things. I wasn't really counting my calories this week and enjoyed a few nights eating out. I enjoyed my freedom and wasn't too concerned about things. I'm glad to see that I lost a tiny bit. I think I'm ready to get back into things and I might consider making this a routine of taking a few weeks break every so often. It would be sort of like a built in plateau. I did keep up with the exercise but I got more creative/flexible with that. Since it's fall and we have two wonderfully huge trees in our backyard I've been spending a lot of time raking leaves. I did that while the kids napped as my exercise on a few days. I just checked out a new Jillian Michaels dvd at the library and I like it. It's a butt kicker as usual! So that is it and hopefully next week I'll be reporting a bigger loss{and since the weather is in the 60's I'll be sure to get in lots of walks this week on top of things}

11/1 Weigh In Week 9

Loss for the week: 0 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:187.2 lbs.
Total loss to date: 21.2 lbs.

Not much to report. We were out of town this weekend on vacation so I took a break from dieting. I enjoyed myself and was dreading today's weigh in. I was pleasantly surprised to see I'm at the same weight as last week{ at least I didn't gain} While at the hotel I swam for the first time in a {LONG} time. I did over 200 yds. and it was tough! I stopped A LOT! Hopefully I'll be able to improve in the months to come. I'm so not a swimmer- I'm mostly afraid of the water.

10/25 Weigh In Week 8

Loss for the week: +.8 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:187.2 lbs.
Total loss to date: 21.2 lbs.

Not much to say for myself, except I began to fall off the wagon a little bit. We were very busy and had a bunch of parties this weekend so I just went with it. I did excellent on my exercising this past week though. I even added an additional 60 min. on Friday for a full 2 hour workout. There were a few extra walks with the family as well. I'm trying not to let it get to me too much since I know this week might not be awesome either. We are traveling mid week to visit family for a few days so I'll try to keep within reason as best as I can. I'll be back to losing in no time I'm sure of it!

10/18 Weigh In Week 7

Loss for the week: 3.2 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:186.4 lbs.
Total loss to date: 22 lbs.

I can't believe I'm still maintaining an over 3 lb/week rate! I've been getting much worse about sticking to my calories. I've cheated more times that I care to count this week. I did try to make up for some of it buy adding an additional 40 min. to my workout on Thurs. I'll just keeping taking it one day at a time and not beat myself up about it too much. My husband on the other hand has reached his goal this week. He set out to lose 15 lbs. at the same time I started my weight loss and he's there! I asked him yesterday what his plan was going forward and he said he wouldn't mind getting down another 5 lbs. so I guess he's going to stick with me a little longer on this journey. I can't wait for the day when I weigh less than him(the way it should be)!

10/11 Weigh In Week 6

Loss for the week: 1.8 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:189.6 lbs.
Total loss to date: 18.8 lbs.

So things are starting to slow down just a little bit. I looked back at that last time I lost weight(after baby #3) and it's odd how my numbers are following the same pattern. The fall weather we've been having is just beautiful so hopefully I can get out as much as possible this week to walk and have that extra exercise add to things. This morning I did 30 Day Shred level 1, 20 min. on the elliptical, 30 Day Shred level 2, 15 min. on the elliptical. I did a little more of an intense workout this morning since it was my birthday yesterday so I splurged a little on my diet. A friend of mine just gave me a few pairs of jeans and dress pants and I tried them on last night and could just barely button and zip them. I'm hoping in a few weeks they will fit. That'll be fun to try them on again in a month or so and see how I'm progressing. The oldest three spend the night at Grandma's house so it's just me and baby E for another hour. I've got a big stack of coupons to clip and need to get ready for a playdate later this morning!

Happy Birthday To Me!

It's 10/10/10 and it's my 28th birthday!!! I'm letting myself splurge a little in the eating department so hopefully that doesn't affect my weigh in tomorrow too much. I'll still be taking a few walks today but I'll also be going out to eat at BD's Mongolian Grill, yum yum! The Cheesecake Factory is a five minute walk from there so I may end up getting a slice for dessert as well. I was pretty happy with my number yesterday so hopefully I'll still have a decent number to report tomorrow.

10/4 Weigh In Week 5

Loss for the week: 2.6 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:191.4 lbs.
Total loss to date: 17 lbs.

I've got a head cold so I'm not feeling so great. Yesterday the whole right side of my face was leaky and my eye was so red and puffy. Today I've got the sinus pressure. I'm happy with my number for this week and hoping that I'll get to say goodbye to the 190's and be in the 180's for next week's weigh in.

Monday, September 27, 2010

9/27 Weigh In Week 4

Loss for the week: 3 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:194.0 lbs.
Total loss to date: 14.4 lbs.

I can't believe I'm still pulling some big numbers. I thought for sure this week I'd slow down. I'm psyched! I'm very motivated to keep on moving this week!!! Hopefully in two weeks or so I'll be out of the 190's and into the 180's. I love saying good bye to those weight levels! I can't believe I lost almost 14.5 lbs. in my first month, wohoo!!! Still have a long way to go but I'm chipping off bit by bit.

9/20 Weigh In Week 3

Loss for the week: 2.8 lbs.

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs
Current weight:197.0 lbs.
Total loss to date: 11.4 lbs.

Glad to see the pounds are still coming off at a good rate! I've been struggling this week with keeping it up. I have still stuck to my 60 min. each day and my 1850 cal. but it's just been hard to do. I still feel so far away from my goal and even just far away from being a point where I feel I look okay in my clothes. I'm pretty sure I'm losing some of the fat around my side/love handle area so that it good that I can feel the change but the front stomach area still has a long way to go. I tell ya, what we go through to have babies! My body will never be the same even after losing all this weight. I just started a different workout video this week so that will be a nice change of pace. I did the Erin O'Brien's Prenatal Fitness Fix(40 min. video) and 20 min. on the elliptical. Even though some of my workout dvds are for pregnant people, the workouts are still really good especially since it's been about 7 weeks since I had the baby so I'm still trying to ease my way into things. I'm still dreading starting Jillian's workouts on the 30 Day Shred. Maybe in a few more weeks I'll start that but for now I'm good, hee hee.

Late Night Workout

It's 10:15 pm and here I sit with wet hair after just getting out of the shower. I put my workout off until late tonight. I was very busy during the day and decided to get other things done around the house and then I had a baby shower to go to so it wasn't until 8:30 that I had time to get my hour in. I was dreading it. I was dragging my feet the whole way but I knew I'd have to tell everyone that I missed a day if I didn't do it. I've just been getting sick of my workout but I'm not yet ready to add something new. Maybe next week. And my body aches! My ankles hurt, feet, lower back, hips, the list goes on. Sorry, I just feel like whining a little bit tonight. I'll get over it and continue with my journey. We can't always be sunny and cheery about everything all the time. I'm looking forward to the weekend so I can walk for my exercise. That is so much easier than kickboxing, jumping jacks, push ups, elliptical! Gotta nurse the babe and then I'm off to bed.

Honesty

So I came across another weight loss blog(that I found off a friend's blog) and I enjoyed finding someone else who is on this same journey. One thing I noticed was that she was completely upfront and honest with her weight. She posted her actual starting weight. I had planned on maybe someday sharing those numbers like say when I finished my goal. I'm not sure why I decided to hide that information. I know I love to hear the starting weight and ending weight because it helps me to relate better whenever I read those stories in my Shape magazine. If I see someone that started out at a weight close to mine I can see myself in her story and translate her happy ending to mine as well. I think I will go back and put in all my starting weight info. because really they are just numbers anyway (and they are going down with each and every day!).

9/13 Weigh In Week 2

Loss for the week: 5.2 lbs.
Starting weight: 208.4
Current weight: 199.8
Total loss to date: 8.6 lbs.

This has been a good week!!! I'm sure I can't keep pulling out these big numbers but it's a good start to have already lost 8.6 lbs. in the first two weeks. Now only 59.4 more to go!
Today I really didn't feel like cranking out my workout since it was a hectic day. I took all 4 kids to the zoo (with my mom's help) but then on the way home we got stuck in traffic because the freeway went down to 1 lane for awhile. Luckily the baby was still sleeping because I couldn't imagine being in standstill traffic with a screaming 6 week old. Anyway, I dropped off my mom and went to fill up at the gas station. After putting gas in, I went to open the van door and couldn't because all the doors were locked. My van did this once before for some reason but luckily I had been at the gas station a few houses down from my house so I ran to get the extra key. Well this time I couldn't do that. I ran into the gas station to let them know and they called the sheriff for me. I went back to the van to try and see if my 4 year old could unbuckle herself. She tried and couldn't get it so I decided we'd just have to wait till the sheriff got there. Meanwhile, the baby is screaming and mommy is getting anxious. Then A tells me she has to go potty and a few minutes later it turns into "Mommy I'm going to have an accident soon!" I told her to try to unbuckle herself again and this time.... she got it!!! Praise the Lord for allowing A to free her brother and sisters from the locked van! I hauled all 4 kids in quickly to use the restroom and then we headed home. As stressful as that all was, I just really didn't feel like putting in some hard work. I did it anyway despite my day. I think we can always come up with a good excuse not to exercise but the important thing is to push through those feelings and (in the words of Nike) "Just Do It!"

End of Week 2

Two weeks into this journey so far and I'm feeling good. I know I still have a long way before I reach my goal and knocking two weeks off really doesn't feel like much. I'm excited for tomorrow's weigh in because I've been peeking every day and can't wait to see what the final number will be. Also, I'm curious how next week will go. I can't imagine I can keep up these big numbers forever.
I stuck to my exercise routine all week and then for the weekend I'm taking those 60 min. and walking with the family pushing a stroller or holding a baby in a carrier for added work! Yesterday while the rest of the house was sleeping, I headed out with little E and went for a nice quiet walk. I had her in the baby bjorn. I love to look at houses when I'm out for a walk so I got to walk down a few streets I haven't been to before. I just love walking around town with the cars buzzing by.
I had my uncle's wedding reception to go to last night so I didn't eat too many calories beforehand. It's so hard for me to go somewhere where I can't figure out the calories. I just tried to be reasonable with what I ate. I had small pieces of the desserts but when I started getting that feeling like I wasn't enjoying it as much anymore I stopped. Who knows for sure if I stayed within my calories or not for yesterday but I don't feel like I pigged out so I'm pretty confident I did okay.
Now it's time to go burn some calories while sitting on my butt, aka nursing my baby!

Moderation

The best way that I can keep this weight loss journey up for a long time is by still enjoying the foods that I like but in moderation. For example, this past weekend I enjoyed some favorites like Kit Kat bars, Hershey's, Doritos and eating out at Panera Bread. I still stayed within my calories for the day and I got to enjoy some treats and as you can tell from Monday's weigh in indulging in those didn't affect my numbers. Tonight I'll be eating at Pizza Hut, yummy! I'm having two slices of cheese pan pizza. Here's what my menu looks like for today:

Breakfast-Oatmeal 130
Banana 105

Snack- Carrots 30

Lunch-Salad 30
Cheesy Rice & Broccoli 250
1 c. raspberries & strawberries 55

Snack- 1 c. strawberries 50
Peas & Carrots 60

Dinner- Salad 30
2 slices pizza 720
Plum 60

Snack-Apple & 1 T. peanut butter 185
3 c. popcorn

9/6 Weigh In Week 1

Loss for the week: 3.2 lbs
Starting weight: 208.4
Current weight: 205.2

I'm off to a good start since I'm hoping to lose about 1 1/2 lbs. per week so this definitely kickstarts it and keeps me motivated to achieve my goal. I know I've heard it takes a month to start a habit so hopefully in 3 more weeks this will get easier. This morning I woke up to storms and downpours and it affected my mood. I really didn't feel like working out today but I pressed on through those feelings and did it. I feel great having done it! Over the weekend, for my workouts I went on long walks with my family(usually a hour to an hour and a half) so that was my way of giving my body a little bit of a break from the week but still getting my hour of exercise in. It just so happened that the weather was great walking weather in my opinion. Today was back to 20 min. of elliptical and 2 20 min. denise austin videos.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

I have a few things that really help me out to get more for my calories. I love them because then I have more calories for other things I enjoy. Bread- Healthy Life 100% Whole Wheat Whole Grain Bread, this stuff has only 35 cal. per slice which I love because I enjoy lots of sandwiches and last time around I limited myself since my other bread was twice as many calories.

Drinks- Crystal Light, this is a great way to have something tasty to drink when I'm bored with just water. I like Pink Lemonade, Lemonade, and Raspberry Lemonade. There are only 5 cal. per 8 oz. glass so I don't even bother counting these calories into my daily limit because I really only have 2 or 3 glasses a day.

Salad Dressing-Kraft Free Zesty Italian Dressing, at 15 cal. per 2 tbsp. this is a great way to spice up a salad or toss on a bunch of veggies and steam them.

Day 2

My first day went very well. I was able to get an hour workout in first thing in the morning after nursing E. It was a great start to my day. This morning however I did not follow in those same footsteps. After I was done nursing E, I decided to head back to bed for a couple more hours of sleep since J was downstairs working out before work. I'm hoping to get a walk in today with the kids and then during naptime I'll get the rest of my workout today. I think I'll try to do 2 20 min. Denise Austin videos today (one different from yesterday and one the same). My muscles are a little sore today but not too bad. My food plan for today is pretty similar to yesterday except I'm having pork chops for dinner instead of chicken. I don't mind keeping things the same since it's just easier for me to get use to a routine. I plan dinners for the family a few weeks at a time so when I'm dieting I eat what I have planned but just in a portion that makes sense calorie-wise. 9 months seems so far away today but I'll just take it one day at a time.

Food/Exercise

Here's what on the docket for today:

Breakfast-
Oatmeal 130 cal
1/2 c. peaches 30 cal.

First Day Back Into It

I've been dreading/looking forward to this day for awhile. Baby #4 is now 4 weeks old and it's time for me to get my butt into shape. Last Jan. I began a weight loss plan and ended up losing 55 lbs. by Aug. It was great to finally get my body back after having been pg. the previous three years, but I knew it wouldn't last long since we wanted to have one more baby. I had great intentions of keeping up with all my workouts. Well, that didn't last very long because it ended up being a pretty rough pregnancy. I struggled with depression so I had no energy or drive. I stayed in bed most of the day and the kids watched more tv than I ever cared to let them. I ended up gaining all the weight that I had lost so now here I am starting back at the same weight I was last January.

Here is my plan/goals:
Consume 1,850 calories per day (since I'm nursing this is higher than I had it last time)
Exercise for 1 hour every day
Lose 68 lbs. by the end of May 2011

Starting weight: 208.4 lbs.

I took my measurements today so I'll be keeping track of that. I'm not sure that I'm brave enough to post those numbers right now. Maybe more towards the end when they are no longer true.
